Wave Group appoints IOS to manage the Delhi Waveriders, Hockey India League’s Delhi franchise

IOS was appointed by the Wave group as the official agency to manage Delhi Waveriders, the Delhi-based franchise of Hockey India League. IOS was responsible for event management, facility management (Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium), team logistics, and for forging partnerships and raising sponsorship for the franchise.

IOS Maidan launched on 1st of November, 2012

“Maidan” is the latest offering from the IOS stable in its continuing effort to build a sustainable sporting ecosystem in the country. Conceptualized and created by the Infrastructure Development & Management vertical of the parent entity of the IOS Group, Maidan is the benchmark for public-private partnerships in sports infrastructure in India. In an ode to the childhood memories and carefree days of amateur yet competitive sport that all of us associate with the word “Maidan”, we have left no stone unturned in minimizing the use of permanent structures, concrete, glass and the other harbingers of modernity, so as to allow our users the unusual experience of space, fresh air, freedom and peace.

Much like the “Maidan” that all of us recall, this path breaking facility will also cater to a multitude of interests, across age groups, by providing facilities for cricket, football, tennis, basketball, gymnasium, martial arts, yoga, meditation, jogging and several more. IOS has entered into exclusive management and representation agreement with Indian Chess sensation Tania Sachdev, who holds the titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster. Pursuant to this agreement, IOS will coordinate their endorsements, media activities, rights and brand management.

Olympics medallists conferred with a honorary doctorate degree by Mangalayatan University

India’s six London Olympics medallists were conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree by Mangalayatan University at its Annual Convocation Ceremony. The medal winners were honoured with Honoris Causa degrees by Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav at the university’s fourth Annual Convocations.

NECC signs Mary Kom as brand ambassador

IOS facilitated a brand endorsement agreement between the National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) and MC Mary Kom. NECC is the world’s largest single association of poultry farmers.

Furthermore, Vice chairman of NECC and joint managing director of Venky Group, Venkateshwar Rao and Indian Boxing Federation chairman Abhay Singh Chautala gave away cash prize worth Rs 27 lakhs to the Indian boxing team at an event held in Pune.

Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali to make a movie on Indian boxing star Mary Kom

“Here’s a person so splendid, so inspiring, so wonderful. Her story needs to be told to the world. It’s a wonderful story of a fighter in life”, said Bhansali while talking about the biopic. The untitled film has been exclusively licensed to Blue Lotus Productions, promoted by Omang Kumar, who was the Art Director of films such as ‘Black’, ‘Saawariya’, among others.

IOS was instrumental in taking this idea from the conceptualization stage to a point when a director of the stature of Bhansali has come on board to lead the project.

In an event held in Bangalore, Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal, two women who’d made India proud at the London Olympics, were felicitated by Herbalife, a global nutrition company. The company announced a cash award and a life-time supply of Herbalife inner nutrition products for both the athletes as recognition of their achievements and a token of appreciation for their contribution to sports in India.

Mary Kom was felicitated by Incredible India Projects Private Limited (IIPPL), one of the leading real estate development companies, in Hyderabad for the grit and determination she showed in the London Olympics.

Samsung hosted an event in New Delhi to honor the contribution of Olympic medal winners and reward their massive achievements.

MC Mary Kom felicitated by the Government of India

Indian London Olympic medal winners were felicitated by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi at the PM’s residence in New Delhi.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports felicitated Mary Kom, Yogeshwar Dutt and other heroes of London Olympics 2012. Shri Ajay Maken, Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports presided over the felicitation ceremony.

Olympic bronze medalist MC Mary Kom felicitated and rewarded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Manipur Government

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs rewarded the Manipuri sportswoman with Rs 10 lakh on 14th August. Mary also received Rs 75 lakh for her outstanding performance in the London Games from the Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at a felicitation function in Imphal.

Furthermore, a road in interior Churachandpur district of Manipur has been named after Mary Kom. During a reception held in honour of Kom at Churachandpur district headquarters, an event that was attended by over 50,000 local fans, Manipur Health Minister T. Phungzathang said government has decided to name the road connecting Churachandpur town to the office of the deputy commissioner’s office as ‘Mary Kom Ring Road’.

IOS manages a seminar on sports management for the London School of Business and Finance

The London School of Business and Finance appointed IOS to organize a seminar and networking session on sports management at the British High Commission on 22nd May. The high profile event was attended by reputed leaders from the world of sports and business including Mr. Sunando Dhar (CEO of I-League), Mr. Amol Sharma (Correspondent from the Wall Street Journal), Mr. Anil Bhavnanki (Director of BPO from Pfizer), and Mr. Mohit Taneja (Brand Manager from Adidas). The event was well attended and well covered by the Indian media and is expected to be followed by similar seminars in Mumbai and Bangalore in the coming months.

Tilaknagar Industries signs four hockey players to endorse their flagship brand Mansion House

IOS facilitated a 2 year endorsement agreement for Sandeep Singh, Sardar Singh, Shivendra Singh and SV Sunil with Mansion House, the flagship brand of Tilaknagar Industries. For the first time in its 79 years existence, TI has signed celebrities as brand ambassadors and the deal was announced in a press conference managed by IOS on 10th May in Mumbai. Pursuant to the arrangement, we can expect each of these four celebrities to be used significantly in the advertising and marketing communication to be put out by TI in each of their home markets.

Reebok enters into endorsement agreements with Sandeep Singh and Sardar Singh

IOS has procured a three-year endorsement agreement with Reebok for Sandeep Singh and Sardar Singh. The endorsement has kicked off with these two stars of Indian hockey promoting CrossFit, a revolutionary conditioning and fitness program. The inaugural trial was conducted at Priyadarshini Park in Mumbai on 6th March, which saw the presence of Gautam Gambhir, Kunal Kapoor and Sara Jane Dias, in addition these two hockey superstars.

Sandeep Singh, Sardar Singh and Shivendra Singh sign the biggest deal in Indian Hockey with Jaypee Cements

IOS procured an endorsement deal for Sandeep Singh, Sardar Singh and Shivendra Singh with one of the most revered brand names in India, Jaypee Cements. The two year deal, which is the biggest in the history of Indian Hockey, is a definite sign of things to come as interest in the national sport of India gathers momentum. The players were unveiled in a extensively covered press conference held on 14th April at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida.

IOS Centre for Sports Excellence at Shivaji College, New Delhi, Ongoing

As part of IOS’ infrastructure development and management vertical, IOS has acquired the exclusive rights to develop, manage and operate a 9 acre plot of land at Shivaji College for a multi-year period, for the purposes of health and fitness. This path-breaking arrangement will see IOS invest significantly into the development of top of the line facilities for cricket, football, tennis and basketball as well as yoga, meditation and other wellness activities as well as into the marketing of each of these facilities. Set up with the vision to make available outstanding playing facilities and training at affordable pricing, this initiative marks the first of 10 properties that IOS intends to develop in the next 3 years.

The facilities will see training academies being set up by leading players in each sport. In recognition of the value of the property and the available facilities, one of the largest amateur cricket events in the country – the Nike Cup – has already been organized on the ground and several more are in the offing.

Biography on Mary Kom, Ongoing

IOS is in the process of closing a deal with one of the world’s most respected publishing houses and one of the country’s most respect journalists, which will see the authoring of a biography on the life of MC Mary Kom. The book will be distributed globally and will trace the story of Mary from her childhood to her quest for an Olympic medal and is tentatively scheduled for completion towards the end of 2013.

IOS supports XercizE, the Marks for Fitness Program, November, 2011 – January, 2012

IOS joined hands with XercizE – a pioneering initiative directed towards improving the fitness level of children in India – to conduct a “Marks for Fitness” camp across the country, beginning with a pilot in the city of Meerut. This pilot, executed in association with Dainik Jagran and the Physical Education Foundation of India, saw tests being conducted in over half a dozen schools for hundreds of children. Students were tested for strength, agility, stamina and speed and were subsequently presented with customized report cards generated through the use of patented state of the art technology, which presented a detailed picture of their present fitness levels. Part of a larger program to improve fitness levels across the country, the report cards also provided customized recommendations for further improvement of the fitness of each participant.

Dog Day Afternoons, 25^th December, 2011 and 28^th January, 2012

The Dog Day afternoon is the latest offering from the IOS events and entertainment portfolio. This unique concept has been designed to provide an alternate platform for weekend entertainment for people of all age groups and is currently being held at the Asola Farms in New Delhi. The two previous editions have seen footfall from nearly a thousand people, who have paid to attend a day of live music from upcoming bands, adventure activities, painting and art exhibitions, live paiting, graffiti, food and alcohol.  The event is currently partnered by leading brands such as Sobieski, Globus Spirits, Budweiser, Olive, TC and Zomato to name a few.

Mary Kom –P&G Proud Sponsor of Moms Olympic Campaign, December 26, 2011

IOS procured Mary Kom’s participation in the Proud Sponsor of Moms campaign being organized by global major and Olympic sponsor Procter & Gamble. The international campaign will feature leading global athletes and their respective mothers and include leading names such as Usain Bolt, Leisel Jones, Michael Phelps and Paula Radcliffe to name a few.

22^nd Lal Bahadur Shastri Under 21 Four Nation Women’s Hockey Tournament,  8^th – 12^th November, 2011

IOS was appointed as the exclusive agency responsible for the overall management and promotion of this edition of the tournament.  The event featured 4 of the world’s leading teams from Germany, New Zealand, Australia and ofcourse hosts India and was organized at the outstanding facilities of the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in New Delhi.  In large part due to our efforts, the event received significant regular coverage in the national and local media, both in print and on electronic platforms, ensuring its success.

The Style Spa Merchant’s Cup Squash Challenge, 2011, September 16 – October 23, 2011

IOS conceptualized, marketed, organized and promoted this tournament, which was one of the largest squash tournaments ever for club and corporate teams in India. IOS actively marketed the event and brought on board Style Spa, the largest furniture chain in India, as the title sponsor of the event. Organized in Delhi at the outstanding Sirifort Sports Complex and in Mumbai at the prestigious and picturesque Willingdon Club, the championship saw participation from nearly 50 teams and 200 participants. The stature of the event fins reflection in the list of participating teams, which included some of the biggest corporate names in the country such as HDFC Bank, Reliance, Nestle, J.P. Morgan and Mc Kinsey. In addition to a competitive squash championship, several social evenings were organized as part of the tournament to allow the participants to get to know one another off the court as well and to let their hair down a little.

Magma Soccer Mania 2011, September 10, 2011

On behalf of Magma Fincorp, IOS conceptualized a unique 6 a side floodlit football tournament targeted at the football crazy state of West Bengal. Played on the 10^th of September, 2011 at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata, the event saw participation from nearly 20 teams comprised of the OEM’s and dealers of Magma Fincorp. The tournament was attended by Indian football legends including Alvito D’Cunha, Chima Okorie and Douglas D’Silva. The platform provided by the event was also utilized by Magma Fincorp to felicitate Tapan Naskar, an upcoming footballer, who despite his modest background qualified for the Final XI in a football reality show and is currently playing with the junior team of the East Bengal club.

Herbalife – MC Mary Kom association renewed 1^st July, 2011

IOS procured the renewal of the agreement between global nutrition major Herbalife and MC Mary Kom, pursuant to which Mary Kom will be a sponsored sportsperson of Herbalife. Mary is one of India’s brightest hopes at the London Olympics and the renewal of her association with Herbalife is a sign of things to come for her.

Valuation of Football Club for leading I-Banker

Based on its strong credentials and proven expertise in football, IOS was appointed by a leading investment banking firm to conduct a financial valuation of one of the most prominent football clubs in India. IOS conducted an extensive financial due diligence of the club and submitted a detailed valuation report, marking the first time that an effort of this depth has been made in India.

Slazenger Launch in Chennai, 4^th March, 2011

IOS was appointed by Mayor International Limited, India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of sports equipment, to conceptualize and organize the announcement of their association with Slazenger, the global leader in the manufacture and sale of sports equipment and apparel. Accordingly, IOS organized a press conference and product launch in Chennai on the 4th of March, 2011, where Mayor International and Slazenger announced their exclusive association for the Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh markets. Slazenger brand ambassadors Paul Collingwood, Tim Bresnan and Matt Prior were the chief guests at the event, which was extremely well attended by the regional and national media.
