IOS acquired New Delhi Heroes Football Club, 29 May 2007

After the success of 119th Osian’s Durand Cup, IOS acquired the New Delhi Heroes Football Club, Delhi’s most successful Football Club. After the acquisition, IOS restructured the club into a wholly owned subsidiary of the company (ND Heroes Football Private Limited – www.ndheroes.com). We also brought in Chima Okaeri, the most successful foreign player in India to coach and train the squad.

Further, IOS partnered with Osian’s for the club’s principal sponsorship. This fillip in training, infrastructure and conditioning for the Heroes resulted in the ND Heroes being crowned the undefeated champions of the Delhi League. Moreover, the club went on to acquire the second division license of the I-League, India’s only national football league.

120th Osian’s Durand Cup, 30 October - 8 November 2007

The 120th Durand Cup was an even bigger extravaganza with the inclusion of floodlights and introduction of “Teamgiest”, the official match ball of World Cup, 2006, by Adidas. The evening matches drew enormous crowds with the facilitation of better viewing for the spectators and excellent playing conditions for the athletes. Additionally, this edition of the Durand Cup was broadcast live by NDTV 24*7.

LBS Gold Cup 2007, Four Nation Women’s Hockey Tournament 1- 5 December 2007

This tournament featured India, Italy, Malaysia and Azerbaijan, with India finally triumphing. For this event, IOS was involved in PR, event management, marketing, branding and designing

The event was attended by Bollywood celebrities including Mahima Chaudhary and Dia Mirza.

Indian Air Force’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, 25 February 2007

IOS was nominated as the official consultant and the marketing agency for the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.

The event featured numerous air and static displays by fighter aircrafts of the IAF, expeditions, sporting, cultural and adventure events. Additionally, a publicity campaign was designed to promote IAF as an attractive, challenging and sound career for the youth of this country. Several acclaimed International and Indian artists performed during a series of musical and cultural events. The first ever of its kind Half Marathon was also organized and was covered by DD sports.

Major Squash Events

IOS has managed some of the biggest squash events in the country including

1. 54th National Squash Championship and Inter State Team Squash Championship, 6-10 September 2006

The tournaments held at the Gymkhana Club featured the likes of internationally ranked players Joshna Chinnappa and national champions Sourav Ghosal and Ritwik Bhattacharya.

IOS managed the complete event from marketing to media and PR.

3. ABN Amro Merchants Cup, 1 - 15 April 2006

IOS conducted this squash event for 30 corporate teams from across Delhi and the NCR. Participants included HSBC, ABN and DSM.

4. 21st World Men’s Team Squash Championship, January 2007

The Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) in partnership with IOS hosted the 21st World Men’s Team Squash Championship. IOS held the Indian TV and Marketing rights of the event.


119th Osian’s Durand Cup, 06-27 November 2006

IOS igned an exclusive five year agreement with the Durand Football Tournament Society (DFTS) for all rights associated with the Durand Cup. The cup is the third oldest football tournament in the world and the single most coveted title in Indian football. It has been managed by DFTS since 1888 and the President of India is the Patron in Chief.

The tournament featured top Indian football clubs including Mohan Bagan, East Bengal, Churchill Brothers, New Delhi Heroes etc., and was broadcast live by ESPN STAR Sports and DD Sports.

IOS signed-up Osian’s—a leading Asian art and culture house, for the biggest ever sponsorship deal for a period of three years.

This event has contributed significantly and quickly towards harnessing the dormant football culture of the capital. Extensive publicity, prize money of 20 lacs (INR), introduction of spruced up playing conditions in the form of a new look stadium, hiring of turf specialist, cheerleaders and live performing bands ensured ground spectatorship of 20,000 people — never witnessed in the tournament before.

Adidas, the official partner of the tournament introduced the Roteiro UEFA 2004 ball as the official match ball and also introduced the golden boot award.

World Women’s Boxing Championship, 16-24 November 2006

IOS managed and marketed the 4th edition of the World Women’s Boxing Championship in 2006, which was contested in 13 weight disciplines by more than 185 women boxers from 33 countries. Besides host India, the world champion Russia, the U.S, Ukraine, China and Turkey fielded full- strength teams, making this championship the biggest ever in India. This event was organized at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi in association with DLF.

IOS Challenger Fight Night, 27 November 2005

The IOS Challenger Fight Night 2005 was a first of its kind boxing concept which featured top Asian pugilists in a show down against India’s best including Vijender Singh and Akhil Kumar. Through this unique event, IOS brought the concept of an international fight night to India for the first time and provided a platform at which the Indian pugilists could showcase their talent. This event highlighted the true potential of boxing as a glamorous and marketable sport in India. It raised the profile of boxing and created a new paradigm for the sport in India.

This landmark event was organized in an open amphitheatre setting at one of Delhi’s leading shopping malls and witnessed a packed house of more than 5,000 people. It was broadcast live nationally by NDTV and was covered extensively by the Indian media.

IOS signed Vijender Singh, 15 September 2005

IOS signed up ace boxer Vijender Singh, who went on to win India’s first boxing Olympic medal in Beijing in 2008. IOS managed Vijender’s brand from 2005 onwards including all his endorsements and sponsorship deals as well as his media and PR activities. IOS has been instrumental in helping Vijender realize his true potential as a world class boxer.

IOS shares an excellent relationship with the print and television media and collaborates with several media houses to publicize its athletes and popularize media events. For instance, IOS was responsible for arranging several appearances and public events for Vijender, which included:

  • an appearance with Salman Khan and Malika Sherawat in Dus Ka Dum
  • a guest appearance in Voice of India, Indian Idol, Nach Baliye – 4
